One of Calgary’s oldest and most upscale neighbourhoods, Elbow Park is located in the city’s southwest area. Its boundaries include the Elbow River to the east and south, Elbow Drive at the east, Council Way at the north and 14 Street W at the west.

The community was annexed in 1907 and development commenced after the neighbourhood had been established in 1910. According to 2008 census data, Elbow Park’s population of 3,463 declined by a modest 0.6 percent from 2004. Its population exhibits stability, as only eleven percent of the neighbourhood’s residents moved during the course of one year (2006 from 2005).
Elbow Park’s median income of $184,185 increased nearly 20 percent from 2000 to 2005. Single-family homes account for nearly 99 percent of the neighbourhood’s dwellings, according to the 2006 census.
Public schools include Elbow Park Elementary School, Rideau Park and Mount Royal Junior High schools, as well as Western Canada High School. Private schools include St. Augustine Elementary and Junior High School as well as Bishop Grandin High School.
